About

Me

I am an IT Architect at TelstraClear Limited, in Auckland, New Zealand, where I primarily work with broadband and internet technology and projects. (However, please see disclaimer.)

The website

This site is a bit of a playground for me, where I can try out different web technologies. It is also my “online home” where I post my hopefully occasionally interesting ramblings in the Notepad section.

Colophon

The site is built using the following software and tools:

  • Standards based XHTML, CSS and Javascript;
  • WordPress 2.5.1;
  • Gimp for graphics (I cannot justify buying Photoshop!);
  • Emacs for HTML, CSS and Javascript editing;
  • Vox typeface for headings (from Canada Type via fonts.com);
  • Vox Alt typeface for logo and logo type (from Canada Type via fonts.com);
  • SiFR 3 for Flash rendering of headings;
  • Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard running on a 20″ iMac for development;
  • MAMP, the Mac OS LAMP stack (Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP) for development;
  • VMWare Fusion running on my iMac with Windows XP guest OS for browser testing (with Explorer 6, Explorer 7, Explorer 8 beta, Firefox 2, Firefox 3 beta, Opera 9, and Safari 3.1);
  • GoDaddy Linux Hosting;
  • Ecto for Notepad/blog postings;
  • Feedburner for RSS feed distribution;
  • Google Analytics for web site statistics;
  • TelstraClear PDQ Max broadband.
